The Beechcraft Queenair B80 was the first air ambulance to operate in New South Wales in 1967. The service was developed in order to deliver patients from remote areas to hospital in the shortest amount of time. This saw patients arriving in better condition and reduced the number of miles covered by rural ambulance services.
